The Rhymatist

The Rhymatist

And The Song Goes
OK, go ahead get a carrot
Eat a bite yourself or cut it up and share it
It's good for you and helps you see.
They're crunchy and munchy and the vitamin D

The Rhymatist is the brain child of Chris Lavrar, who has worked with the likes of Ice T. This isn’t the first time we’ve covered kid-hop. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo’s Underground Playground was a Top 10 album of 2010. If Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is De La Soul, that makes The Rhymatist the Black Eyed Peas. I don’t mean that in a bad way. Both do a fine job of bringing Hip-Hop to the kids, but they are very different styles. SA23S has a very organic feel and flow, while the Rhymatist has a straight to the hook, tight, fast-paced feel to every song.

The message is the same: Empowering and educational. This isn’t dumb downed for your kids. It’s challenging and your kids will be better for it.

Healthy Habit features Elsie Fisher who played/voiced Agnes in the movie ‘Despicable Me’ and talks to your kid about the importance of eating healthy foods. Reading and Writing features a sample of Boogie Down Productions’ You Must Learn.

The Counting Song is hands down one of the catchiest songs of the year. Check out the video. My 22 month old daughter demands to hear this song every day.

Wooptie Hooptie Scooptie Doo is a anti-bullying song.

I was skeptical at first, but I was quickly won over. The Rhymatist's debut record is great start. I'm already looking forward to his next record.

If this sounds like an album you'd like, I’ve got one copy to giveaway. Just leave a comment.
